I've been doing a lot of design work on my own little personal world that Shadow and Shade inhabit. Let me walk you through a few things now that I've got you here.
This is probably the hardest to figure out what's going on. Essentially these are five picture thumbnails that I might be using for a full on drawing. The biggest one on the lower left side is mainly to get in the feeling I wanted of seeing a castle built into the bedrock and even hanging off the side of the cliff that their city faces.
This one is to give a general look at the stalactite homes that some of them live in. It's usually broken into two halves that work as apartments. Different ones have different sizes and they're anchored in by a root like system. The rock itself grows back so there is little decay and wear on the structure itself. The buildings usually have walkways on the lower part as well as a walk way attached to the roof of the cave. The ones on the roof usually just lead right to the exit while the pathways on the lower part are used to go from apartment to apartment. The bigger spaces are usually the versions where stalactites and stalagmites meet and are considered the more "posh" living spaces. Down on the ground they have more normal housing and business structures but most are built into the rockbed.
This is Shadow's room broken down from different perspectives. The top left is looking at the room after you walk in and turn right to look at the window. The door way is off to the right, the doors you see are ones that lead to her closet, the bed is to the left and it's located under some low hanging shelves.
Top right: We're looking at the doorway leading into the room.
Middle left: With the window at your back, this is the view of the room.
Small middle right: Break down of her room. There's a crawl space to the side and behind Shadow's closet.
Lower left: poster ideas of what Shadow may have decorated her room with.
Lower right: View of the room with the closet and door behind you.
Shade's room is next.
Top left: Looking at the doorway. There's a sunken table in the middle of the room and Shade sleeps in a bed that opens over a dresser built into the wall. There's a hammock as well for gusts or if Shade feels like sleeping differently. On the side of her bed is a small rack that she keeps her spear on. Might be dangerous having it hang out the way it is so I should turn the spear around to face the wall. The scribbling on the side is her clothes rack that takes up that side of the room.
Top right: just a closer look at the potential spear rack on her bed. just scribblings.
Middle left: With the bed and door behind you, this is the adjacent wall. There's another mattress hanging up in the rafters that Shade also uses sometimes. More posters, more mess and two bars on the ceiling. One in the corner and the other in the middle of the room. These bars are used for when she feels like working out or to hang stuff off of.
Middle right: with the door to your right, you're looking at the window. There's another poster on the ceiling.
Lower Left: with the window behind you, we can see Shade's clothes now.
Lower right: Shade's a pervert.
This is the bathroom. Decided to put more steampunk into this.
Top left: to the left we have the steamer, to the right we have the shower. The use the same water system. In the middle we have towels and a clothes hamper.
Top right: With the shower and steamer behind us, we have an ironing board and a door that leads to the cloths line.
Bottom: Clothes line... It goes up the side of the apartment.
Just another doodle of one of my characters.
Because I want to go more steampunk with my story, I decided that having an archer just doesn't fit in with the storyline anymore. So now the archer will become a gunner and this is his gun and watch.
The watch will work on a 28 hour timetable with a 7 day week and a 7 week month.

Because sad pandas wanted me to...
Okay not really. But it sounds good. And what makes me sad is that I don't get much feedback here. BUT! I'll still use this space as a special space just for people who watch this space. Maybe one day we'll all look back at this in fondness... naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, you just wanna see sketches I bet. And boobies. Maybe... I can't pretend to know what you're thinking but considering that 80% of people on the internet are men, I'd say that's a fair bet. OH! Did you know that 57.3% of statistics are made up?
Any way, the main reason I'm posting is because I wanted to show off the raw scans of Shade's posse. They really don't even have names yet, but that'll come later. Hey, if you have any ideas, do let me know. I can use all the ones I can get.
First up is my titular (ha, tit) side character, Shade. Whom has been stealing the limelight from Shadow significantly, but I hope to address that soon. But as far as clothing goes, this is what? Normal for her? I suppose it is. Nothing like going out and being ready to deck someone in the face.

A member of Shades group, you may remember him from some of the other concept art I've thrown around. I think his look has been nailed down.
One of the first character concepts I thought up when creating the supporting cast. Might yet flesh him out more during the inking.
Yet another that has come a long way to being more complete as a character. I can honestly say that I've been having a blast creating these guys.
Ah, the big boy himself. Messing with proportions can be difficult, case and point would be this guy. Getting him to look just right is a task. I have to draw shorter legs, bigger calves and a smaller head to make it look right. And all that goes against my home training.
The latest to make the cast. I'm not sure if I'll make her an absolute part of Shade's posse or if she'll just show up on her own or with her brother. I may further refine her look later.
So that's my post. Again, don't be shy about commenting. I WILL respond and am so very interested in listening to folks and their opinions. Remember, opinions are like bellybuttons. Everybody has one and it's usually full of crap.... wait, is it bellybuttons or assholes?

Guile Stick Art
I'm finally doing it! I'm making my own custom art for my Arcade Stick. The top is the colors I'm going to be using in the end and the bottom is just to show off the idea for whats going to be happening down there. I was thinking of making it go from left to right but the buttons were covering up most of the art so I decided against it. I might add a ghost image on the right somewhere of Guile, just to fill in the space but we'll see what happens.

So what am I up to now?
Now that I've finished that Shade drawing I was working on so fervently, I'm heading off to do something else next. First I'd like to show off an updated image of the Joker I'm working on. Folks might recognize the gun if they've read The Killing Joke.

I'm still tinkering with it and might add more types of explosives in his coat. I'll fix the hand as well. Speaking of fixed, I've also redone his smile all the way. Picked up the teeth a bit higher, re-did the edges of his mouth, fixed up all that and now it's all proper.
Next I have a preview privy to people who peruse my posted personal points-of-view. The next Shadow comic lines.

I'll have to update the older comic to reflect Shades current hair. She doesn't get those spikes until she works up her hair anyway so I decided to do a better job showing that. I'm also working with heavier inks this time around as well, so let me know what you guys think.

Keeping the WIPS rolling
Hello again everyone. Decided it's time for a new post over on the ol' bloggers.

I'm still working on the Shade drawing and this is how much it's progressed. Not much, I know, and I should've been done with it a long time ago but backgrounds are just messing with me! I'd say I'm still only about 75% done with this one. I WILL finish this, I swear it.

Now this is sort of my version of the joker. After playing the amazing Batman: Arkham Asylum,I wanted to draw the joker the way I figured he would be. I was also watching The Dark Knight at the same time I was drawing this as well so Jokers all around. The way I heard the story, his mouth was cut into a smile. So I wanted to keep that idea but also have the cut itself not healed at the ends. So it gives him a much wider smile than normal. I might still change this up, maybe shortening his face a little and such, but this is going the way I wanted it to. Probably not the exact image I have of him but I'm working there.

Screen Shot WIP
I'm working on it, I'm working on it, albeit slowly but I'm working on it. And just to show that, I decided to take a screenshot of what I'm messing around with. What I didn't realize is that doing so actually captures both screens so now you get to see what goes on in the second screen. Just some music and visualizations right now. I'm thinking of making both screens show the same thing so I can make sure the colors I'm using jive with different screens.

I gotta ask though, how do the tones on Shade look? Too dark, dark enough, too light? I'm just not sure myself. Looks fine to me so far. Decided to go with a night time look with a green atmosphere since I figured that's the time these creatures are most active. Might add even more to this drawing and make it more active.
Main thing you'll notice is the 25 Essential Expressions of Shade. I did one already of Shadow and now I'm doing one for her sister. I'll be putting in even more details this go round as well, even including 5 different sets of outfits. Although I'm not sure about what the last 3 will be. Maybe I'll draw her in her armor? Well that's three down, two to go. I'll figure it out.
Oooh, the second screen. I've been listening to Gorillaz again. Got a new CD called D sides. Two CD set that has, in my personal opinion, some really great music. The second CD is remix tracks from their D---Days CD but it's mostly just remixes of two songs, Kids with Guns and Dare. I swear, there are at least 3 different versions of each. The first song and last song on the CD I don't care for at all but everything else jives with me rather well.
Welp, that's it for this blog post. Figured I was due for another one and next time I have more works in progress I'll post again. Perhaps something... titillating. We'll see.
